Renewal!

It's been a long time since I've posted - things have been a bit crazy at our house since the beginning of the year! I'm hearing that from a lot of people so I know we are not alone.

I wanted to let everyone know that we got our I-171H renewal letter from Immigration today! I'm telling you, we get excited over the little things huh?! Anyone who's been through this process knows that you just have to celebrate every baby step to keep you going!

If you've been following the blog, you will remember that this is what we started the process of updating back in September '08. Our approval to bring Stevenson home by Immigration was expiring 12/29/08 and because adoptions are taking so long, these approvals (called I-171H) need to be renewed. In order to have it renewed you need to have your homestudy updated which requires another visit from our social worker, updated forms and new physicals for everyone in the family, etc, etc. Then that all needs to be approved by DCFS and then it is submitted to Immigration before the expiration date. Well, we did all that, but then found out Immigration rejected some wording in our homestudy(!) and it all needed to be resubmitted with the correct wording, yada, yada.... Well - it is finished! We got the renewal letter!

As far as Haiti goes, we have been waiting for a Stevenson's Passport since December 1, 2008. "They" are saying that passports have been taking 2-3 months so we are hoping to get an update on that SOON!

In the meantime, Stevenson's room is all ready for him and we are anxiously (to say it nicely) awaiting some news.
