Phone Troubles

Through our journey we have met such wonderful people and have a network of friends that love Haiti and its' people as we do. Well, when we learned last week of our most recent delay, I sent out an email to some of these friends to see if anyone had any ideas for us. Through that we were connected to a woman who knows our son very well - she's been placing kids from his orphange in homes for a number of years now and she says Stevenson is "her buddy" :).

It turns out she is in Haiti visiting right now! So she has offered to let us call her cell phone during a certain time of the day and she will let us talk to him(!) So, of course, we were ecstatic! Last evening was the first night we could call him, so as the clock struck 7:00 PM, we started dialing and had the kids prepped and ready to talk to their brother as well.

Well..... we dialed for an hour and could not get the call to go through.... :( Needless to say, we were SO disappointed. I know from being there that so many things can interfere with getting through - why didn't I prepare myself better for not getting through?! Oh well, there's always next time.

So.... tonight we dialed again and still couldn't get through. We tried the consulate number there to see if the problem was on our end and it wasn't - we were able to get through to that number, but no luck to D's cell phone number..... I've emailed her to see if she has any thoughts on what we could do differently and that we'll try again tomorrow night at 7:00 pm sharp!

Come on cell towers and satellites - get aligned for us tomorrow night! Pretty please?? ;)
