Humbled...

Many of you know that Tom coaches football at St. Charles East High School. Tonight was his end of the year banquet and it was amazing. The opportunity for Tom to coach with one of his best friends from high school has been a blessing in so many ways. Coaching is his passion and he is very good at it. He touches the lives of the athletes in such a positive way.

Our family has received so many positive things over the last five seasons - too many to list. It has been so neat to see the kids come through year after year and for our son Dakota to be able to be a part of it since he was just 3 1/2 years old. Last year he took on the great responsibility of "ball boy" and this year he did it very well.

One thing that is so cute to me is that each year Dakota has a particular player that he especially looks up to. I've been so grateful for these mentors in his life - they have been great examples to him and it means so much to us.

Back to the main reason I'm posting this. At tonight's banquet, the head coach announced that we are in the process of adopting Stevenson and that we are heading there next weekend. He then opened it up to anyone who would like to make a donation to Stevenson's orphanage to feel free - no pressure.

Well, we were so humbled - first by the call for it - and then by the response. As a result, I'm sending $312 to Answered Prayers for the kids at Stevenson's orphanage.

We are so grateful to the St. Charles East football family. We have made such great friendships there and look forward to introducing Stevenson to the "Fighting Saints" when he comes home!
