Our local (homestudy) agency called today and said that they received final approval from the state of IL to go along with our updated homestudy. This means that we can now submit this all to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) so we can request an extension on our approval for a visa request for Stevenson. This is something that expires after 18 months and ours is up on 12/29/08.
We never dreamed we'd have to request this extension, but we started the process in September and here we are December ready to submit it. We all needed to get new physicals with the dr., Tom and I had to get FBI clearances on our fingerprints, four new reference letters from friends, updated financial reports on our status and tax returns, another home visit by our social worker and a homestudy update written, and now the approval from IL DCFS.
It will feel so good to get this submitted to USCIS. We keep pluggin' along....

Hey guys - just wanted you to know that you are in my thoughts & prayers as you make this trip to Haiti! I'm excited about the opportunity you have to go! Can't wait to meet Stevenson one of these days - hopefully very soon!
